"Starting on Saturday, April 7, the gristmill
will resume demonstrations on weekend afternoons from 1-4 p.m. all
spring and summer long".
"Once again visitors to Historic Walnford, Upper
Freehold, will be able to experience the rumble, clack and whoosh of the
site's 19th century gristmill.
Starting on Saturday, April 7, the
gristmill will resume demonstrations on weekend afternoons from 1-4
p.m. These free demonstrations continue all spring and summer long
through November. Besides the gristmill, the site also features the
pre-Revolutionary Waln House, an 1879 carriage house, and an assortment
of other structures. While the Waln House is currently closed for
interior painting and scheduled to reopen on May 5, the site's other
historical buildings are open daily from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
From
1-4 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, the site will host A New Broom Sweeps
Clean. See this demonstration on how to make brooms, carpet beaters and
clothes pins. Then Sunday, May 20 is Walnford Day. This annual
celebration of the site features horse-drawn wagons, historic
demonstrations and hands-on activities. Admission and parking are free.
